Speaking during a D9 press event in California on Thursday, AT&T Mobility’s CEO Ralph de la Vega said it will take AT&T between 2 and 3 years to bring its LTE network coverage up to a par with Verizon Wireless’ 4G offering. AT&T has already announced that it plans to deploy its 4G LTE network to five cities this summer, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. However, Verizon’s network is already available in 55 markets, it plans to deploy in 23 more this month , and the carrier has promised full 4G LTE coverage across its current 3G network by the end of 2013. . . . → Read More: AT&T CEO: Our 4G LTE network is 2-3 years behind Verizon’s [updated]

Droid Bionic benchmark reports PowerVR GPU, new SOC inside?

Image 5-28-2011nenamarkdroidbionic.jpg

A very strange thing popped up on mobile graphic benchmarking site NenaMark the other day — an entry for the Droid Bionic. Now, it would be very easy to fake this test, and you’d be right to be skeptical given the incomplete score and the fact that it’s reporting PowerVR’s SGX 540 GPU, instead of the Tegra 2 we saw at CES . But, let’s not be too hasty — we heard back in April that NVIDIA’s mobile chip wasn’t playing nice with Verizon’s LTE . . . → Read More: Droid Bionic benchmark reports PowerVR GPU, new SOC inside?

That’s right, kids, and we have the press release to prove it: the LG Revolution that we got our hands on at CES is coming to Verizon tomorrow for $250 (with a new, two year customer agreement). Sadly, this handset won’t bring you any closer to overthrowing the established social order, as LG seems to think that “revolution” has more to do with such niceties as HDMI out, the Android 2.2 mobile OS, and a 16GB microSD card. But hey, that pre-installed Netflix app sure does seem nice . . . → Read More: LG Revolution coming to Verizon tomorrow for $250 on contract

Samsung DROID Charge on sale for $199 from Amazon

As much as we like Verizon Wireless’ second 4G LTE-enabled smartphone offering, $300 is a tough pill to swallow — even for the fastest smartphone we’ve ever reviewed . While the improved battery life and slimmer build probably do warrant a $50 premium over the HTC ThunderBolt, Verizon’s other 4G smartphone, its $250 asking price is a bit steep to begin with. As usual, however, AmazonWireless has swooped in with a sale price and undercut Verizon’s asking price by a cool $100 . . . → Read More: Samsung DROID Charge on sale for $199 from Amazon
