Jolla’s Marc Dillon teases world’s first Sailfish device, confirms launch in a couple of weeks

So the rumor is true: the world’s first Jolla Sailfish device will be launching this month. In fact, Marc Dillon, the ex-CEO and now Head of Software Development at Jolla, was kind enough to flash the back of the product at the GMIC Beijing conference earlier today — mainly to emphasize his love for the booming Chinese market. It was very brief — no more than two seconds — but the orange device appeared to be no smaller than five inches in screen size . . . → Read More: Jolla’s Marc Dillon teases world’s first Sailfish device, confirms launch in a couple of weeks

The retail name of this dual-SIM (WCDMA 900/2100 and GSM 900/1800/1900) device is actually E1, and HTC pitches it as an affordable Android 4.1 (with Sense 4+) phone with a 2.1-megapixel f/2.0 wide front-facing camera — likely identical to HTC One’s, judging by our own comparison — along with beautification features and the company’s much publicized ImageChip technology . . . → Read More: HTC E1 headlines company’s Chinese online store with custom options (video)

The Engadget Interview: Vertu CEO Perry Oosting talks specs and rationale

“Hi, I’m Richard Lai from Engadget. You guys probably hate us but…” “No no, I don’t hate you,” Vertu’s 52-year-old President and CEO interjected with a charming smile. He then laid a hand on my shoulder and explained our in-joke to the other chuckling diners, “These guys, they read the specs and they only judge by the specs.” Of course, it was just a light-hearted banter the night before our interview, but having been with the luxury phone maker since June 2009 as President, Perry Oosting obviously knew of everyone’s ongoing jokes about the rationale of his super expensive phones . . . → Read More: The Engadget Interview: Vertu CEO Perry Oosting talks specs and rationale
