5G approaches, data limits explode.

Want to bust a 1GB monthly bandwidth allowance in just 8 seconds? 5G could be your answer, and Samsung have now achieved a speed of up to 1.056 Gbps for up to 2 kilometres, roughly 1.2 miles. Using a frequency of 28 Ghz they’ve used “adaptive array transeiver technology” to edge us closer to super-super-super-fast mobile broadband. . . . → Read More: 5G approaches, data limits explode.

Apple Keeps Anonymized Voice Data Related To Virtual Assistant Siri For Up To 2 Years

Apple’s Siri voice assistant on iOS devices retains information to help the company generate better and more accurate results in the analysis process that takes place at its remote servers. The company has never previously revealed exactly how long it keeps that data or how exactly it works, but now Wired has learned from an Apple spokesperson exactly how Siri IDs and store data, as well as for how long. Apple said that it first associates voice files gathered by Siri with a randomly generated number to keep all associated data anonymous, and separate from any other identifiers including your Apple ID or even your email address. . . . → Read More: Apple Keeps Anonymized Voice Data Related To Virtual Assistant Siri For Up To 2 Years

Apple confirms it keeps Siri data for up to two years

It’s no secret that Apple hangs onto your Siri data for some length of time (as does other companies with search data and the like ), but it hasn’t been clear exactly how long it keeps that data sitting on its servers. Wired has now cleared that up somewhat, though, hearing from Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller that the company “may keep anonymized Siri data for up to two years.” That word follows another report from Wired yesterday that raised concerns about the issue. As Muller notes, the data is immediately deleted if a user turns Siri off at any time, and it’s anonymized from the start; neither your Apple ID or email address are stored with a data, but rather a randomly generated number that represents the user and becomes associated with the voice files . . . → Read More: Apple confirms it keeps Siri data for up to two years

The Galaxy S4 is just around the corner now and, if I’m honest, I’m looking around for an upgrade. I’ve started looking for a more data on my next plan because I got kicked for going over my paltry 750MB data allowance with my current network… Doah… And I only had a 750MB package with Orange / EE ..! twitter.com/coolsmartphone… — coolsmartphone (@coolsmartphone) April 16, 2013 This morning I stumbled across these two deals on Three for the S4. You can get all-you-can-eat data, 500 minutes (far more than I need actually) and 5000 texts (way more than I need) for £35 per month, and the phone itself is free. . . . → Read More: A couple of rather good Three deals for the Galaxy S4

Virgin Media disable speed caps

The recent speed caps on Virgin Media appear to have now been lifted but don’t get too excited, they look to be coming back soon enough. The “teething troubles” have led to some customers getting pretty useless speeds on the network, which is hosted on the back of EE . . . → Read More: Virgin Media disable speed caps

Globalgig reduces prices, adds more data-roaming countries

If you intend to go abroad and use data then you usually need to either remortgage your home or take out a roaming data plan.
