Looks like there are at least two things that the Danes can get right: butter cookies, and hyping it up for a delayed Android handset. According to Lumigon’s Facebook page, what we’re looking at here is the first official rendering of the T1’s redesign — quite a radical change here, especially with the new navigation pad and the now externally-accessible microSD slot. . . . → Read More: Lumigon T1 gets Froyo and a major facelift, makes glamorous appearance on Facebook

Chrome to Phone isn’t a new product — we’ve been using it since May , in fact — but Google’s second mobile announcement today (behind Voice Actions ) is that its continuous client app is now “official” and available to all users (with Android 2.2 Froyo ) via Android Market. As it was before, websites can be pushed from the Chrome browser to your Android device, with certain apps (Maps, YouTube) taking over for the browser when contextually appropriate. Additionally, the code is open, which we’re hoping means this Chrome extension will find its way to other browsers. . . . → Read More: Chrome to Phone now available in Android Market

Why settle for a Star Wars voice pack when you can completely replace your boring, “useful” navigation system will an authentic X-wing targeting computer? That’s thinking of Flash-developer Christopher Caleb, at least, who put his skills to use to develop this note-perfect Adobe AIR-based app for Android . . . → Read More: Android GPS navigation: X-wing edition

All together now: “Finally!” At long last, the leaks are being plugged by none other than Verizon itself, who today confirmed that the Droid 2 is more than just a figment of everyone’s imagination. Shortly after hamstringing the Froyo update for the original Droid, Big Red is tossing a tempting upgrade all up in your grille, as the Droid 2 ships with Android 2.2, mobile hotspot (a $20 / month add-on), Flash Player 10.1 and a revised QWERTY keyboard. It also ships with Swype pre-installed, though we’d prefer Swiftkey thrown in for good measure . . . → Read More: Motorola Droid 2 (and R2-D2 edition!) finally official: Android 2.2, Swype, $200 on contract

Maybe it was the heat crosstown rival Samsung was bringing with its Froyo promises for the Galaxy S series , but whatever the case, we’re pleased to see that LG has stepped up to commit an Android 2.2 upgrade for Verizon’s Ally . Unfortunately, they’re not offering up a date — or even a multi-week window, a season, or a year — so we can only hope this situation doesn’t drag itself out into the hardware’s irrelevance, as does occasionally happen with these sorts of things. We know, we know… . . . → Read More: Relax, LG Ally owners: Froyo’s coming your way

It’s not rolling out to everyone just yet — as usual, this is a phased update — but that doesn’t mean you need to twiddle your thumbs while you wait for Motorola and Verizon to grace your Droid with Android 2.2 . Turns out the upgrade file on Google’s servers has been located and mirrored a billion times already, so if the guys out in Mountain View decide to pull it, you should still have a pretty easy time tracking it down. . . . → Read More: Motorola Droid’s Froyo update now available for download, if you dare

We’ve just gotten a deluge of tips that EVO 4Gs are starting to get blessed with the official update to Froyo — a few hours prior to the promised August 3 rollout — so if you’ve got one handy, you’re going to want to start checking it right this second. Seriously, now that it’s got a trick flashlight app included in ROM, what could you possibly be waiting for? On a related note, if you happened to apply that early update that HTC posted and pulled late last week, the company’s working on a fix so that you aren’t out of the over-the-air update loop and promises to “get back” in “the coming days.” [Thanks to everyone who sent this in] EVO 4G starts getting Android 2.2 update over the air originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 02 Aug 2010 20:14:00 EST. . . . → Read More: EVO 4G starts getting Android 2.2 update over the air

We’ve just heard directly from HTC regarding that hotly anticipated upgrade to Android 2.2: it’s happening this weekend for lucky Euroland owners of the Desire. Provided your Sense-laden 3.7-incher is not carrier-locked, you should be receiving your serving of Froyo by the end of the week, together with a new 720p video mode and iTunes sync for your music. HTC is also throwing in its App Share widget that it first introduced with the Wildfire , along with its smart Caller ID feature. . . . → Read More: Official: HTC rolling out Android 2.2, 720p video, iTunes sync to unlocked Euro Desires this weekend

We’re not certain that this date is going to hold — things like this have an uncanny tendency to slip at the last possible moment — but we’re at least hopeful to see some internal Sprint communication that they’re trying to get the EVO 4G updated to Froyo as soon as tomorrow, July 30. It’d be the perfect way to kick off the weekend, wouldn’t it . . . → Read More: EVO 4G’s Android 2.2 update starts trickling out tomorrow, loads of new features and fixes in store?
